Fritch

Jeanne Sue Wells Brannan, 85, was born on January 25, 1936 to Claude “Pup” and Rose Wells in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma and passed from this earth on January 18, 2022 in Tulsa Oklahoma.  Private graveside services will be in the Garden of Serenity at Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery in Fritch, Texas.  Jeanne will lie in state in Fritch at Minton Chatwell Funeral Directors from at 9 am - 8 pm on Monday, January 24, 2022 and 9 am - 12:30 pm on Tuesday, January 25, 2022.

Jeanne married Marion Glenn Brannan on September 7, 1953 in Clayton, New Mexico and was preceded in death by her husband and parents.

After their marriage, Glenn and Jeanne lived in El Paso while he was stationed at Fort Bliss Army Base then returned to Cactus, Texas where Glenn began working for Phillips Petroleum Company.  During their marriage they lived in Cactus, Texas; Okmulgee, Oklahoma; Beatrice, Nebraska; Phillips, Texas; Dumas, Texas; and retired in Fritch in 1983.  After a short stay at The Ware in Amarillo, Texas, she made her final home in Tulsa, Oklahoma with the Barrazas.

Jeanne attended 13 different schools while growing up and never met a stranger.  Very seldom could she go anywhere that she did not know someone or had a common acquaintance with others.  She LOVED to talk and was caring and compassionate to everyone she came in contact with.  Jeanne was a lifetime member of the PTA, a published poet, had her own radio show for a while, worked at JC Penney for many years, a driver for Meals On Wheels, member of the Fritch Red Hat Ladies, on the Girl Scout and Boy Scout Councils, a Trained Hospice counselor, sang in many groups, loved Native American history, and spent time crocheting and sewing.  Dogs were also a passion, and she had a very large collection of them.  She and Glenn, along with another family in Beatrice, began a sound Church of Christ group and were always willing to share the gospel to anyone or listen to those in need.  She was a devout member of the Franklin Street Church of Christ in Borger, Texas until her passing.

Nothing brought Jeanne greater pleasure than spending time with her children, grands and great grands, her extended family and a multitude of friends.  Left to cherish her memory are her children, Renee and Bill Phillips of Fritch, Texas, Ron and Vonda Brannan of Granbury, Texas and Rose and Joe Lemley of Clarendon, Texas; grandchildren, Ami and Fidel Barraza, Jessica and Josh Bechtel, Kelley and Tyler Battey, Lauren Brannan, Regan Lemley and Ronak Shah, and Abby and Jerry  Brown; great grandchildren, Fidel, Mercedes, and Maxiumus Barraza, Brannan Lee and Wyatt Carlisle and Bleu and Lo Bechtel, Asia Brannan, Elijah, Ezekiel and Eden Battey, Ronni, Gatlin and Wellen Brown; sister, Mary Lou “Shorty” Albert of Stratford, Texas; brother, Allen “Buck” and Sharilyn Wells of Barnsdall, Oklahoma; the Barraza family who claimed her and loved her as their own; several nieces and nephews; many cousins; and her furry companion, Lilly.

The family expresses a special thanks to Dr. Tim Mooring, Dr. Luigi Haddad, the staff at The Ware, The Hospice of the Southwest nurses and support staff and The Seasons Hospice Staff of Tulsa, Oklahoma.
