Tom Dortch, 87, finished his race on Monday, June 21, 2021.

A celebration of his life will be held at 2 pm on Saturday, June 26, 2021 at First Baptist Church of Morse.  Burial will follow in Lieb Cemetery.   In lieu of flowers his memory may be honored with a gift to the Morse Community Building, Box 114, Morse, Tx 79062 or Child Evangelism Fellowship of West Texas, P.O.Box 3811, Wichita Falls, Tx 76301.

Tom was born July 5, 1933 in Morse, Texas to McKinley Butler Dortch and Mattie Lela Boney.   He proudly served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict.  He married the love of his life Beth Blankenship on July 27, 1956 in Morse.  Tom lived life to the fullest.  A devout Christian with a servants heart, he loved the Lord, his Church, his country and had a heart for missions. He volunteered his time and generosity with the Morse Volunteer Fire Department, anything supporting Hansford County and the youth of Hansford County in 4-H and Rodeo.  Tom served on the advisory board of First State Bank of Spearman and on the Morse School Board.  He was a lifetime member of the PTA and the Morse Lions Club where he was elected as their first Man of the Year.

A true car enthusiast, he collected antique cars, doing Road Rallies and competing in the Great American Race three times.   He could repair anything around the house or on a car engine.  Tom was the owner of Morse Implement and Auto Supply in Morse for 62 years. He enjoyed doing yard work, gardening and being on his tractor.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Mack and Lela Dortch; grandson, Tom Kirk; brothers, Jack Dortch, John Dortch, Doyle Dortch; and sisters, Billie Jean Robinson and Virgie Kelly.

Survivors include his wife, Beth of Morse; daughters, Teresa Kirk and husband Randy of Spearman, Vicki Urban and husband Gary of Morse; grandchildren, Dib Kirk and wife Sha, Lauren O’Brien and husband Justin, Rily Urban and wife Maddie; great grandchildren, Marshall Kirk, Sawyer Kirk, Easton Urban, Briggs Urban, Bodie O’Brien; sister, Maxine Reiswig of Morse; numerous nieces and nephews; and a host of extended family.
