Sherry Mercer

Sherry Lynn Johnson Mercer, 61 of Canyon passed away on Sunday, June 12, 2022, in Amarillo. Memorial services will be held at Schooler Funeral Home Chapel, 4100 S. Georgia St. Amarillo, TX 79110 on Saturday, June 18, 2022 at 2:00 pm. Private burial will be in Lieb Cemetery in Morse, TX under the direction of Minton Chatwell Funeral Directors of Borger.

Sherry was born June 10, 1961, in Amarillo to Charles and Nila Jean (Farr) Johnson. She grew up in Pringle, TX and went to Texas A&M and later to West Texas A&M where she received her teaching certificate.

She married Jerry Mercer in September 1998 in Canyon. She was a teacher in the Canyon Independent School District where she taught science, primarily chemistry. She loved her students and called them all her kids. She loved riding Harleys and was a proud biker "Lady" ( if you knew her, there would be a more explicit word there).

Sherry was preceded in death by her mother and husband.

Surviving is her father Charles of Pringle, TX; sons Joshua Carter and wife Laura of Cleburne, TX and Chris Carter of Buda, TX; brother Karl Johnson of Pringle, TX; grandsons River Carter and Charles Carter.
