Rhonnie Kaplan

Rhonnie Faye Kaplan, 88, passed from this life January 10, 2023 at her home surrounded by her family.  Funeral Mass will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday January 14, 2023 at St. Thomas Catholic Church in Amarillo with Father John Valdez officiating.  Burial will follow at Llano East Cemetery under the direction of Minton Chatwell Funeral Directors of Borger. Rosary and Vigil Service will be held at the church at 6:00 p.m. Friday.

Rhonnie was born October 4, 1934 in Trent, TX to William Rhonswill Darby and Zula Tennessee Bright Darby.  She was a lifetime resident of Borger, moving to Amarillo eight years ago.  She graduated from Borger High School and Frank Phillips College before marrying Jack Kaplan August 20, 1955 in Borger.  She was Secretary Treasurer of Northwest Insulation and was the Co Founder with Jack.  She liked to sew, make quilts, play golf and bridge and travel.  She loved her family, especially her grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother Don.

Rhonnie is survived by her husband of sixty-seven years Jack, her son John Kaplan and his wife Angela, her two daughters Teresa Harper and Kathy Free all of Amarillo, her eight grandchildren Melanie, Steven Mindy, Zach, Michael, Kelli, Courtney and Hannah, her nine great-grandchildren Delanie, Sophie, Ruby, Karlie, Carter, Darby, Cleo, Calloway and Bella and her sister Beverly Stennis of Bryan, TX.

Casket Bearers will be Steven Harper, Michael Harper, Zach Kaplan, Chandler Cooke, Sean Yancey, Vince Tam and Ben Bain.

Donations may be made to The Opportunities Center or St. Thomas Catholic Church.
