Kay was born with Razorback blood pumping through his veins on March 2, 1941 in Prairie Grove, Arkansas to Vernon Litterell and Ruth Ellis Litterell.  He married the love of his life Winnie Mae Wheless on April 20, 1963, still not sure how it lasted 58 years with her being a Longhorn fan, but true love can overcome any obstacle.  Kay loved his church, the Church of Christ at Borger, and served faithfully having been a deacon close to 30 years and an elder for 25 years.  He also maintained and drove the “Joy Bus”, which helped youth be able to attend church and learn about Jesus.  In doing this he set a great example for many.  His life’s work was to lead others to Christ.

He began working at Gunn Brothers Tire Company at the age of 11. This led to a lifetime career in the tire industry and in 1982 he became co-owner of Vernon and Sons Tire Company, until his retirement in 2016.  He also worked for Phillips Co-Poly and Camex.  After his retirement, he was able to pursue his love for driving, as he shuttled vehicles for Bulldog Motor Company.  Kay enjoyed driving, being a Razorback fan, golfing, being a Razorback fan, fishing, being a Razorback fan, and bowling.  He loved life and had a great sense of humor.  He enjoyed pestering and lovingly received the name “Pestering Papa”.   Nothing brought more joy to his life than spending time with Family.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Vernon and Ruth Litterell; and a brother, Bobby Jay Litterell.

Left to cheer on his beloved Razorbacks are his wife, Winnie of Borger; daughters, Cara Petty of Borger, Lisa Smith and husband Joe of Fritch, Leslie Ford and husband Steve of Borger; grandchildren, Kymbra Bezner and husband Greg, Jennifer Anderson and husband Jared, Zeb Smith, Jessika Sanders and husband Johnny, Matt Smith and wife Megan, Cody Smith and wife Angel, Kelsey Leathers and husband Josh, Tori Ford and fiancé John Belway, Erin Martin and husband Brice, Stevie Ford and Garrett Clark; eighteen great grandchildren; brother, Charles Litterell and wife Donna of Borger; sisters, Faye Blanks and husband Mike of Borger, Glenda Chester and husband Rick of Amarillo; his Arkansas Crew, Dwain McLoud, Delbert McLoud, Lois Jones, Gary Smith; numerous nieces and nephews; and a host of extended family.
