Doris Joan Calder, 84, passed away Monday, February 27, 2023.

Funeral services will be held at 2 pm on Saturday, March 4, 2023, in the Minton Memorial Chapel.  Burial will follow in Memory Gardens in Pampa under the direction of Minton Chatwell Funeral Directors of Borger.  The family will receive friends from 5-7 pm on Friday, March 3, 2023, at the funeral home.  In lieu of flowers her memory may be honored with a gift to Cal Farley’s Boys Ranch, 600 SW 11th Ave, Amarillo, Texas, 79101.

Doris was born October 28, 1938, in Lyndon, Kansas to Carl Eklund and Leona Toulouse Eklund.  She married James David Calder on December 5, 1958, in the Phillips Methodist Church.  Doris worked as a buyer for Phillips.  She enjoyed cooking, flowers, playing bridge, and traveling.  Doris and David had a second home in Vallecito Lake in Colorado where she enjoyed watching the birds, feeding the hummingbirds and being in the mountains.   Nothing brought more joy to her life than her family.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Carl and Leona Eklund; an infant son; an infant daughter; and sisters, Deon Mertz, and Margy Prentice.

Survivors include her husband, David Calder of Borger; son, James Calder and wife Rebecca of Borger; daughter, Carol Poston and husband Michael of Amarillo; grandchildren, Josh Calder and wife Maribel, Haley Calder and fiancé Ian O’Malley-Keyes, Matthew Poston, Brandon Poston and wife Kaitlin; great grandchildren, Bryson, Anslee; and a host of extended family.
