Bobby Dane Head, 88, passed away Monday, March 28, 2022.
A celebration of his life will be held at 2 pm on Tuesday, April 5, 2022, in the First Baptist Church of Panhandle with Pastor Josh Light officiating. Burial will follow in Panhandle Cemetery under the direction of Minton Chatwell Funeral Directors of Panhandle. In lieu of flowers his memory may be honored with a gift to First Baptist Church of Panhandle, PO Box 189, Panhandle, Texas, 79068.
Bobby was born March 9, 1934, in Van Alstyne, Texas to Edgar Head and Anna Elizbeth McReath Head. He attended schools in Anna and Westminster, Texas. He was the team captain for both his football and basketball teams for four years at Westminster. Growing up he worked on the farm. He married the love of his life, Mildred Othelia Bowling, on March 9, 1956 in Memphis, Texas. He held various jobs over the years. He worked for Coca Cola Company in Dallas, Borden Milk Company in Clarendon and Texas Highway and Transportation for Carson County for 40 years, the last 17 years as maintenance supervisor.
He was a member of First Baptist Church of Panhandle for 65 years. Bobby loved his church and very much enjoyed his family. He had a passion for the youth of Panhandle. He coached Little League Baseball and Kids Incorporated Basketball. Bobby also umpired baseball for Little League, Senior Babe Ruth League, as well as officiating Junior and Senior High School Basketball. He was an amazing mentor to many youths in Panhandle over the years.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Edgar and Anna Elizbeth Head; daughter, Regina Perry; granddaughter, Nancy Perry; several great grandchildren; brothers, Cecil, Millard, LV, Max, Eddie, Don; and sisters, Pearl Laney, Juanita Robertson, Helen Putman, Billie Price.
Left to honor his legacy are his wife of 66 years, Mildred of Panhandle; daughter, Rejohna Hale of Panhandle; sons, Mickey Head and wife Debbie of Amarillo, D. Bob Head and wife Sylvia of Woodward, Oklahoma; thirteen grandchildren; forty-seven great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; sister, Oneta Green of Fritch; numerous nieces and nephews; and a host of extended family.
