Borger

Betty Jo Sanders, 92 of Borger, passed away Monday, May 17, 2021 in Amarillo, TX.  Graveside services will be 2:00 pm Friday, May 21, 2021 at Westlawn Memorial Park under the direction of Minton Chatwell Funeral Directors.

Betty was born on August 22, 1928 in Strong City, Oklahoma to Rex and Velma (Crites) Hensley.  She married Thurmond Sanders December 23, 1945 in Sayre, Oklahoma.  She was a Borger resident since 1950 and was a long-time member of Franklin St. Church of Christ.  Betty had many joys and interests in her life including ceramics, crocheting, and gardening.  She enjoyed cooking and baking for her family and any time spent laughing with her two sons.  After many years of camping trips and baseball games outnumbered by boys, Betty was finally blessed with girls in the form of her four granddaughters. Her favorite pastime was watching her granddaughters and great-grandson doing what they love best.  Betty was an avid baseball fan and enjoyed cheering on her boys, grandchildren, and her beloved Atlanta Braves.

Betty is preceded in death by her parents and husband.

She is survived by her sons Tommy Joe Sanders and wife Cyndy of Conroe, TX; Mickey Sanders and wife Dee of Borger, TX.  Brother Ronald Hensley and wife Shirley Jean of Amarillo, TX; sister Rexa Hall and husband Nick of Amarillo, TX.  Four grandchildren Stacey Sanders, Tori Treadway and husband Jason, Sarah Sanders, Samantha Flores and husband Jerry, and one great-grandchild Connor Smith.  Betty is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

The family would like to express their gratitude for the nurses and staff of The Craig Windflower unit in Amarillo.  In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
