Windell R. Ashfrod

Windell R. Ashford, 88, passed away Monday, August 3, 2026, during an extended visit with family in New Mexico.

Funeral services will be held at 10 am on Saturday, August 15, 2026, in the Minton Memorial Chapel. Burial will follow in Highland Park Cemetery under the direction of Minton Chatwell Funeral Directors of Borger.

Windell was born October 3, 1937, in Powderly, Texas to W.G. and Elsie Ashford. He was a Borger High School graduate, received various certifications, and attended some college over the years. Windell enjoyed playing and watching golf, staying in the know about technology or ‘computering’ as his wife would say, and reading and watching westerns. Nothing brought more joy to his life than his family.

He proudly served in the United States Air Force. Windell drove a truck, did some other plant work, worked as a salesman and worked at C.R. Anthony’s as part of a job program his senior year of high school. He retired from Agrium where he performed a variety of jobs over the years including instrument man, safety officer and IT Specialist. After retirement, he taught at FPC for a few semesters and did freelance computer work for a time.

Some of his favorite memories includedd laughing with his wife; time and holidays surrounded by family; golfing with friends; teaching his kids to ride bikes, drive and play golf; and seeing the running of the bulls while stationed in Spain.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Pamela Ashford; sons, Nolan Ashford and Joe Ashford; father W.G. Ashford; mother, Elsie Ashford; brothers, Billie Ashford and Joe Ashford; and sister, Dian McKamie.

Survivors include his daughter, Evelyn Parker of Denton, Texas; son, Windell Ashford, Jr. of Irving, Texas; daughter, Wendy Parrish (Kevin) of Grants, New Mexico; son, Daniel Ashford of Grants, New Mexico; 10 grandkids; and 11 great grandkids.
