William Reece Shelton

William Reece (Bill) Shelton went to meet his heavenly Father on April 3, 2026, after battling a long illness. He was born May 31, 1943, to Opal and Delmar Shelton in Honey Grove, Texas.

He worked in the oilfield most of his life on pulling units and drilling rigs. He had been a pumper, roughneck, driller, tool pusher and drilling superintendent. At one time he was co-owner of Tejas Tongs in Borger.

In the 90’s, he started raising cattle on land in Sanford, Texas. He loved going out on the land seeing his cattle, his favorite Hereford bull, accompanied by his favorite dog “Ole Pup”.

He is survived by his wife, Linda of the home, son, Del Shelton of Stinnett, Texas, daughters, Deanna Shelton of Issaquah, Washington and Juhree Shelton Knowles of Glen Rose, Texas, 6 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. Brothers, Joe Shelton of Borger, Texas and Sam Shelton and wife Carolyn of Fritch, Texas and sister-in-law, Gina Shelton of Borger, Texas and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Peggy Burks, brother, Lem Shelton and sister-in-law, Sue Smith Shelton.

No funeral services are scheduled at this time. Burial will be at Westlawn Cemetery under the direction of Minton Chatwell Funeral Directors of Borger.

The family would like to thank the staff at Caprock Nursing Center, Alisha and all the nurses and staff at Hospice who took loving care of Bill and also two special Frank Phillips Nursing students who sat with him and were so kind to the family.
