William Larry "Red" Rider, 88, passed from this life Monday, July 17, 2023 at his home in Fritch. Funeral service will be 1:00 p.m. Friday at the First Baptist Church in Borger with Pastor Charlie Morgan and Bobby Mack, Jr. officiating. Burial will follow at Westlawn Memorial Park under the direction of Minton Chatwell Funeral Directors of Borger. The family will receive friends on Thursday evening from 5:00 until 7:00 at the funeral home in Fritch where Larry will lie in state until service time.
Larry was born March 6, 1935 in Whittenburg, Texas to Bert Alfred Rider and Florence Ercella Welch Rider. He married Margaret Jane Fowlkes on August 31 1956 in Borger and served in the U. S. Army. After basic training he was stationed in Michigan, Taiwan, Virginia, Viet Nam, Virginia, Germany, Texas, Korea and retired in Kansas as SFC after twenty-one years serving his country. After retiring he returned to Borger and worked as a gager at Phillips Petroleum Company for twenty-one years before his retirement. Larry loved to do woodworking, camping, working at Living Waters and spending summers at Lake Medina, but most of all he loved his family.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Christine Harrington and Sue Humphries; brother, Kenneth Rider; mother and father-in-law, Laura and John Fowlkes.
Larry is survived by his wife of sixty-six years, Margaret; two sons, Billy Rider and his wife Jill of Fritch and Keith Rider and his wife Drielle of Cypress, Texas; two daughters, Ronda Kilgore and her husband John of McLouth, Kansas and LaDawna Mack and her husband Bobby of Fritch; seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
Casket bearers will be Trey Mack, Brince Rider, Kevin Dumond, Joe Mahon, Zachary Butt and Cody Mack.
Honorary Bearers will be Shane Mahon, Riley Mahon, David Heard, Braxton Butt, Brennan Butt, Andrew Butt and Beckett Mack.
