William Joe Hodge

William Joe Hodge entered this world December 4, 1931; to Myrtle and Joe Hodge in Tahoka, Texas.  Dub was the oldest boy of 11 children.  He passed into the loving arms off his Lord and Savior whom he served and loved for so many years on November 15, 2025 at 5:39 AM.  There he was met with "Well done, my good and faithful servant".

In High School, he met the love of his life, Peggy Mullinax, and they soon married on May 28, 1950 in Morton, Texas.  Dub signed up for Selective Service during the Korean Conflict where he served his country proudly from June 11, 1952 to June 12, 1954 as a Sargent for the US Army.  After leaving the Army, they returned to Morton.  They adopted their first child, Tonya, in 1960 and in October 1962, they welcomed their son, Duane, into their family.

Dub served as Deputy Tax Assessor Collector for Cochran County for 4 years.  In 1958, he took a job at Morton Independent School District as Business Manager Tax Collector until 1980.  At that time, the family moved to Borger and he worked as Business Manager at Borger School through 1986. He then went on to become Chief Appraiser for Hutchinson County until he retired in 1991.

He was a member of TSTA and Secretary Treasurer of the VFW Post in Borger for many years.  Every Friday, Daddy and a half dozen buddies would eat lunch at Lorene's; the "Mafia" as they were known.  He could be found at Mr. Treat doughnut stop each morning swapping stories with his cronies.

His hobbies were woodworking, of which he rarely sold but gifted to friends and family for their enjoyment.  He loved making other people happy and liked to see them smile.  He restored a Karman Ghia which he gave to his daughter on her 40th birthday; a beautiful candy apple red Ghia with a white rag top.  As usual, a gift of love, regardless of the skinned knuckles he enduring during the restoration.

Dub was a faithful member of Calvary Baptist Church for many years and taught Sunday School.  He was instrumental in instilling the love and faith of His father to his children; not only by his words, but by the way he lived his life.  A kind, gentle, soft spoken, and the most loving man to walk this earth.

Preceding him in death were his parents, sisters Ruth, Ruby, JoAnn, and Sue; and brothers Lewis, Wiley, and Wilson.
