Tony Stamps

Anthony Hugo Tony Stamps was born May 17, 1969, and went home to be with Jesus on October 21, 2025. He was preceded in death by his parents, Garner and Alice Stamps. When his parents were deciding on a name, His mother wanted to name him Anthony and call him Tony as a nickname. His dad said “no, if we call him Tony it will be in his full name”. Therefore, the naming was complete!! Tony was a graduate of Panhandle High School, Class of 1987. After graduation he attended Oklahoma Christian College then Amarillo College where he studied communications and worked at the Amarillo College radio station as a DJ. After his college days, he lived on the family farm west of Panhandle where he worked alongside his dad Garner and two brothers, Alvin and Vint, for the next several years. Much to the chagrin of his mother, he decided to leave the farm and seek his fortune somewhere other than the wind-blown farm so he moved to Amarillo. Once in Amarillo he began a career with a local cabinet maker, building most of the cabinets in the various Happy State Bank branches in Amarillo. When the cabinet shop closed its doors, he went to work for Toot N Totum as an oil change attendant/supervisor which taught him a lot about dealing with the general public and other co-workers. After a brief stint at a custom box shop he began working at Everett’s Plumbing supply working the counter and selling plumbing supplies to the local plumbers. He worked there until his recent retirement.

In his leisure time, he enjoyed camping with friends in New Mexico. He had a passion for Renaissance Re-enactment where he met many friends and also made armor for several of the members. He spent countless hours gaming with his online community. He will be missed by his large family and many friends.

Tony is survived by two brothers, Alvin Stamps and wife Brenda of Amarillo, Vint Stamps of Panhandle and one sister, Alicia Pace and husband Mike of Panhandle. Nephews Aaron Stamps, AJ Stamps, Ty Stamps, Cobi Pace and Camden Pace. Nieces Hannah Dixon and husband Tyler, Kyli Pace, Adelia Stamps and one Grand Niece, Alice Marie Dixon.

Graveside services will be held at 11 am on Saturday, November 1, 2025, at Panhandle Cemetery.  Cremation was entrusted to Minton Chatwell Funeral Directors of Panhandle.
