Tommy Gene Ferguson

Tommy Gene Ferguson, a devoted truck driver and proud veteran of the U.S. Army, passed away on March 2, 2026, in Amarillo, Texas. He was born on February 21, 1955, in Borger, Texas, to Thomas Neil Ferguson and Virginia Lee Swaffar Ferguson.

A celebration of his life will be held 4:00 pm on Saturday, March 7, 2026, in the Minton Memorial Chapel. Cremation is under the direction of Minton Chatwell Funeral Directors of Borger.

He had a passion for American history, especially the Civil War era, and his fondness for classic westerns—particularly the beloved Lonesome Dove.

On July 1999, Tommy married the love of his life, Phyllis Moore in Amarillo.

He is survived by his wife, Phyllis; his son, Eric Ferguson, and daughter-in-law, Pati Garza-Ferguson, of San Antonio; as well as his stepsons, Michael Woodard of Indianapolis, Sean Woodard and wife Misty of San Diego, and Eric Woodard of Indianapolis. In addition to his immediate family, Tommy leaves behind eleven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Lawanda McWilliams, a daughter, Amie Kuykendall, brothers Bruce and Roy Ferguson, and a grandson, AlVee Woodard.
