Sandra Kay Lanier, 69, passed away January 16, 2026.
A celebration of her life will be held at 2 pm on Thursday, January 22, 2026, at the River Church in Panhandle. Burial will follow in Panhandle Cemetery under the direction of Minton Chatwell Funeral Directors of Panhandle.
Sandie was born March 5, 1956, in Savannah, Georgia to Wallace Clyde Lanier and Millie Sue McLaughlin Lanier. For many years she worked as a devoted registered nurse at BSA, the Veterans Hospital, and the Pampa hospital. She enjoyed quilting, dancing, caring for others, and being with her family. Sandie was a member of the Gold Star Family after losing her son during the war in Iraq.
Sandie was known for being joyful, fun, loving, kind, and silly which earned her the nickname “Cool Aunt Sandie”. In her free time, she enjoyed a good murder documentary.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Wallace and Millie Lanier; son, Esau Gonzales; brother, Wallace Lanier, Jr.; sister, Lisa Mae Lofink and husband George; and nephew, Christopher Lanier.
Survivors include her daughters, Sue Ann Gray, Sara Ward and husband Freeman; ex-husband best friend and companion, Atanacio F. Gonzales; grandchildren, Ava Milagro, Samuel Atanacio, Shalynn Gray, Elianna Gray; brothers, Robbie Lanier and wife Leanne and their children Candace, Nook, Lisa, Emily, David Lanier and wife Pennie and their children Shadden and Samantha; sister, Cynthia Gilbreath and husband Johnny and their children John and Shelly; sister-in-law, Carla Sue Lanier; and nieces and nephews, Coty, Christen, Calie, Chris, Missy, Tyrell, Tiffany and Stacy.
