It is with very heavy hearts that we announce Rod Haseloff of Amarillo, Texas, passed away on August 14, surrounded by his loving family after a valiant 10-month battle with cancer.
Rod was born on April 3, 1955 in Vernon, Texas. Rod graduated Panhandle High School before joining the United States Air Force in 1974. He was in active duty from 1974-1976 as an Explosive Operator and remained in the Reserves until 1980. After returning to Amarillo, he
worked in construction then began working for SPS (Xcel). Rod became a partner at All-Pro Roofing and later purchased the business which allowed him to be the outdoorsman he so loved to be.
Rod loved to fish and was part of the Amarillo Bass Club, the Sun Country Tournament trail and Golden Spread Bassmasters. He has always loved fishing, hunting, and cooking at the annual Barbecue Goat Cookoff in Brady, Texas. He also enjoyed going to Las Vegas to the NFR every year.
Rod was a heck of an outdoorsman and will always be remembered for his character and strong will to do what he loved.
He was preceded in death by his only son, Jeremy Haseloff, father Leonard Haseloff, and step-father Robert F. Mecaskey and best friend Andy Rodgers.
Rod is survived by his mother Dorothy Wright, by his two brothers: Len Haseloff (Marsha) of Fritch and Shane Mecaskey (Marnie) of Granbury, his three sisters: Lisa Gilbreth of Amarillo, Leslie Urbanczyk of Dallas, and Becky Miles (Larry) of Amarillo. His nephews: Heath (Lori), Josh (Holly), and Jacob. His nieces: Haley (Adrian), Paige (Matt), Beth (Brandon), Ryleigh, many great nieces and nephews and special friend, Julie and family.
The family gives its deepest thanks and appreciation for the overwhelming love and support shown by so many people throughout the past 10 months. The celebration visitation of Rod will be held at Hillside Christian Church, at 6100 S. Soncy Rd, Amarillo, on Thursday, August 18, from 5:30 pm - 7:30 pm in the fellowship hall.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to your favorite charity.
