Roberta Ellen Phillips

Roberta Ellen Phillips, 79, passed away Monday, October 20, 2025.

A celebration of her life will be held at 10:30 am on Thursday, October 23, 2025, at the Polk Street Methodist Church Chapel in Amarillo. Cremation is under the direction of Minton Chatwell Funeral Director of Borger.

Roberta was born October 1, 1946, in Sycamore, Illinois to Edgar Robert Safarik and Mildred E. McJunkin Safarik. She married John Wesley Phillips on April 6, 1968, in Wickenburg, Arizona. Roberta was a member of Beta Sigma Phi Fritch Chapter, First United Methodist Church in Fritch and Unitarian Church in Amarillo. She was a talented artist who enjoyed painting animals and portraits. Roberta played the piano and did ballet dancing in her formidable years. She loved to read ghost stories.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Edgar and Mildred Safarik; and mother and father-in-law, John and Ada Phillips.

Survivors include her husband, Wes Phillips; son, John Edgar. Phillips and wife Anna Lisa Minor; daughter, Theresa Phillips; grandchildren, John Kai Phillips, Ashley Younger, Madison Burkovich and husband, Tim; brother, John Warren Safarik and wife Sharon; and her beloved feline companion, Kitchems.
