Robert Wakefield

Robert “Bob” Andrew Wakefield, 79, passed away on Saturday, July 6, 2024, in Amarillo, Texas. Born on April 23, 1945, in Phillips, Texas, he was a lifelong resident of the Borger area and a graduate of Phillips High School.

Robert was a devoted member of St. John’s Catholic Church and an active participant in the Knights of Columbus. His passion for woodworking was well-known among his family and friends, often resulting in beautiful pieces that he generously gifted to loved ones. However, his greatest love was for his family. He never missed an opportunity to support his children and grandchildren in all of their various activities. 

He is survived by his wife, Jacque Wakefield; children, Michelle Koester and husband, Ward, Nadine Boyle, Richard Wakefield, Patrick Wakefield and wife, Keran, and Elizabeth Wade and husband, Nathan; nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; along with many nieces and nephews.

Robert was preceded in death by his parents, Josie and Lloyd Wakefield, and his sister, Betty Vermillion.

Known for his generous spirit, Robert was always the first to offer help and the last to seek it. His commitment to his church and his love for his family will be deeply missed.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Panhandle Humane Society in honor of his love for dogs.

The Rosary will be recited beginning at 5 pm on Tuesday, July 9, 2024, in the Minton Memorial Chapel. Funeral Mass will be held at 3 pm on Wednesday, July 10, 2024, at St. John Catholic Church with Father Shane Wieck, celebrant. Graveside will follow at Highland Park Cemetery under the direction of Minton Chatwell Funeral Directors of Borger.

The family will be staying at 117 Abilene Street in Borger, Texas.
