Robert Samuel Riley Jr

Robert Samuel Riley Jr. passed away on August 6, 2025, in Borger, Texas. He was born on March 13, 1942, in Knox City, Texas.

In his youth, Robert served proudly in the United States Army, embodying the values of duty and service.  On April 21, 1978, Robert married the love of his life, Virginia Cheatham, in Fort Worth, Texas. 

Robert is survived by his beloved wife, Virginia, of Borger, along with their children: son Jared Downs and his wife Darla of Hawaii; son J.P. Riley and wife Serena of Tennessee; son Robert Riley III and wife Cheryl of Kentucky; daughter Dawn Masterson of Georgia; and daughter Lydia Stang and her husband Donald of Stinnett. He leaves behind a legacy that includes twelve grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren.

He was known for his love of reading, fishing, and woodworking. Robert had an innate talent for fixing things and was also a phlebotomist. 

Robert was preceded in death by his parents, a sister Molly Riley, grandson Lucas Downs, and brother Mike Riley. 

A graveside service will be held on August 12, 2025, at Llano Cemetery in Amarillo, Texas, commencing at 11:00 AM. Friends and family are also invited for visitation at Minton-Chatwell Funeral Directors in Borger, Texas, on August 11, 2025, starting at 5:00 PM, concluding at 7:00 PM.
