Rita Gayle Petr

Rita Gayle Petr, 69, passed away Saturday, December 20, 2025.

A celebration of her life will be held at 10 am on Saturday, December 27, 2025, at Faith Covenant Church. The family will receive guests from 5-7 pm on Friday, December 26, 2025, at the funeral home. Services are under the direction of Minton Chatwell Funeral Directors of Borger. A graveside service will be held on a later date at Prospect Hill Cemetery in Marshall County, Kansas. Rita was born January 6, 1956, in Borger to Alyn Rogers and Ebbie Mahan Rogers. She married Kenneth Petr on September 10, 1988, at Keeler Baptist Church in Borger. Rita was a member of Faith Covenant Church. She was an amazing woman with the biggest heart. Rita loved her family fiercely, treasured her animals and grand pups, and found so much peace and joy in her vegetable garden. Her love for people ran deep. Once you entered her life, you were family. There are countless people that she claimed as her kids. Her home was always warm and welcoming, and she was always ready to invite you in. Rita loved to have fun, especially with those she loved dearly. Her love of music not only punctuated this, but was a hallmark of who she was. She leaves behind a beautiful legacy.

She is preceded in death by her first husband, Dudley Hill and her parents, Alyn and Ebbie Rogers.

Survivors include her husband, Kenneth of Borger; daughter, Shelly Brown and husband Kristian of Tacoma, Washington; son, Brad Hill and wife Erin of Keller; grandchildren, Gabe Hill, Ellie Hill, Clara Hill; brother, Garry Rogers of Amarillo; her close cousins Valerie Adkins of Midlothian and Jeff Watson of Huntsville; and a host of extended family and those she considered family.
