Richard Andrew Wakefield, 51, passed away Sunday, February 22, 2026.
A memorial mass will be held 10 am on Wednesday, February 25, 2026, at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church. Graveside will follow at Highland Park Cemetery under the direction of Minton Chatwell Funeral Directors of Borger. The rosary will be recited beginning at 6 pm on Tuesday, February 24, 2026, at the Minton Memorial Chapel.
Richard was born October 29, 1974, in Borger to Robert “Bob” Andrew Wakefield and Jacqueline “Jacque” Maloney Wakefield. Mr. Wakefield worked as the shop teacher at Sanford Fritch High School. He was a member of St. John Catholic Church. Richard enjoyed watching baseball, especially the Houston Astros, reading and working on cars. He lived his life with true humility, always offering a helping hand and giving with a generous spirit.
He is preceded in death by his father, Bob Wakefield.
Survivors include his daughter, Cayla Wakefield; mother, Jacque Wakefield; siblings, Michelle Koester and husband, Ward, Nadine Boyle, Patrick Wakefield and wife, Keran, Elizabeth Wade and husband, Nathan; along with many nieces and nephews.
His family would like to extend thanks to the SFISD staff that took the time to make him feel welcomed and loved, you all truly were the hands and feet of God.
Honorary pallbearers will be Jeff Parkhurst, Clay LaGrand, and Travis Huffine.
