Rhonda Faye Fry

Rhonda Faye Fry, 73, passed away Monday, September 7, 2026.

Cremation is under the direction of Minton Chatwell Funeral Directors of Borger. Per her wishes no services are scheduled at this time.

Rhonda was born March 16, 1953, in Joplin, Missouri to Arthur Fry and Eva Jane Wellman Fry. She married Candice Micki Rogers on January 29, 2014, in Tucumcari, New Mexico.

She enjoyed crocheting and had an amazing sense of humor…. which you undoubtedly saw in her one-of-a-kind collection of political saying t-shirts.

Last October Rhonda was diagnosed with ALS after a 2-year battle with lung cancer. She was only classified as being in remission for a few months when she got the ALS diagnosis. Over the past year she has had a slow, steady decline.

Rhonda was a pioneer. Born in a time when women were just finding their voices. At 17, she traveled alone to a foreign country, in the middle of a war. When her entire life she had barely left her tiny hometown of Riverton, Kansas. She had a child in that foreign country without any of her family surrounding her. At 29 she fell in love with someone that society told her she shouldn’t love. She didn’t care. Because she did what she wanted. She was a strong, generous person. Always trying to save everyone but herself. During her cancer treatment, she volunteered her body to be part of the research to detect 100’s of different cancers from a simple blood test. Because of her that is possible and available to everyone now.

ALS is a very rare, fatal disease and there is just not that much that they know about it. They don’t know why. And there is no treatment for it. So, what did Rhonda do? She volunteered to donate her brain and spinal cord to the University of Miami Brain Endowment Bank for medical research to find out why! And of course she did that. Because she was so unselfish and did anything she could for anyone else. Always to the rescue. If she had it and you needed it, it was yours.

Rhonda was an incredible woman and had a hard, but mostly happy life. There aren’t many that could have stood in her shoes.

ALS is a cruel disease that robs the ability to do even the simplest daily tasks. While simultaneously leaving your cognition intact and leaving you aware that you are slowly suffocating. She is at peace now and maybe her brain will be the breakthrough they need to find out the why! And future generations will not suffer because of her generosity.

She is preceded in death by her father, Arthur Fry; mother, Eva Jane Wellman; wife, Candie Rogers; granddaughter, Destiny Vaughn; brother, Stephen Fry; and sister, Dinah Fry.

Survivors include daughters, Amber Gray and husband Jesse; Jennifer Morang and Jason Richardson; son, Rickey Morang and wife Mary; grandchildren, Luke Vaughn, Logan Morang, Tynan Morang, Christian Barnes and wife Sarah, Piper Camarillo and husband Vincent, Chloe Riehl-Spencer; great grandchildren, Eva, Elijah, Noah; and sister, Nancy Rawlins.
