Phyllis was born June 16, 1940, in Elk City, Oklahoma to Jesse Leroy Payne and Mary Evelyn Wilder Payne.  She married Royce Wendell Shelton on July 30, 1993, in Borger.  Phyllis was an extremely talented cook who loved to decorate and entertain.  Playing cards was always a favorite pastime, especially playing bridge, but she was always up for a shopping trip, on the quest for a bargain.  A gifted pianist, Phyllis honored, served, and worshiped through her gift of music.  She was a church pianist for over 40 years.  Nothing brought more joy to her life than her family.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Leroy and Evelyn Payne; and grandson, Jeremy Gray.
