Phyllis Harmony died Wednesday, April 6, 2022 in Borger.  Her services will be at 3:00 p.m., Thursday April 14, 2022 at Minton Memorial Chapel with Pastor Janell Blair officiating.  Burial will follow at Westlawn Memorial Park under the direction of Minton Chatwell Funeral Directors.

Phyllis Harmony was born January 18, 1924 to Everett and Mildred Evans in Tulsa, OK. She married David Stanley Harmony on July 18, 1944 at First United Methodist Church in Tulsa, OK and sent him off to war as a flight engineer on a B29.

When Dave returned from the Pacific Theatre Phyllis and Dave finished their college career at Oklahoma A&M (now Oklahoma State). She graduated with a Business degree ane he earned a BS in Chemical Engineering. Phyllis worked as a secretary, quickly rising to a position as an executive assistant. When Dave took a job with Phillips Petroleum in Borger, TX, Phyllis quit her job to become a housewife and stay-at-home mother of a growing family. Their first two children, Susan and Steve, were born in Borger, then the family moved to Bartlesville, OK, where Bill and Bob were born. Phillips moved Dave to Pasadena, TX where the family built the first of three houses, then back to Bartlesville where their second house was built, then finally to Borger, TX where their third house was built. Dave finished his Phillips career in Borger.

The family enjoyed several camping trips, driving to National Parks in Arizona, Utah, Colorado, and California. Upon arrival at the campground, Phyllis and Susan would start dinner while the boys set up the family tent. Phyllis and Dave enjoyed traveling to Jakarta, Indonesia to visit their son, Bill and his family. She took another trip to Madrid, Spain with Steve and Betty to visit Bill and his wife Rose. Hiked to the bottom of the Grand Canyon with Dave, staying at Phantom Ranch, also hiked the canyon with the whole family, hiked to Havasu Lodge in the Havasupai Reservation twice, and rafted the Colorado in the Grand Canyon with Dave. Dave and Phyllis took numerous trips to the Caribbean with Steve and his wife Betty.

While in Pasadena, Phyllis was den mother to 3 young boys and also a Girl Scout leader for Susan’s troop.

After Dave retired, Phyllis took up golf and enjoying golfing with him at Borger Country Club for many years. Dave and Phyllis enjoyed playing bridge with friends, and after his death in 2004 Phyllis continued playing in several ladies Bridge clubs.

Phyllis was a long-time member of First Presbyterian Church in Borger and served as treasurer, nursery attendant, and Elder as well as singing in the church choir.  She also sang with the Community Choir for several years and served as an election clerk for several years.

Those left to cherish her memory are her sons, Steve Harmony and his wife Betty, Bill Harmony and his wife Rose Marie, and Bob Harmony; her daughter, Susan Chase; grandchildren, Kathy, Matthew, Forrest, Nathan, Clayton, Vanessa, Elizabeth, Russell, and John.
