Nick Nichols was welcomed by Jesus into his heavenly home on Wednesday, January 26, 2022. He was joined there by his beloved wife and best friend, Yvonne Nichols two days later on January 28, 2022.
Nick was born on January 19, 1951 in Borger, TX to Roy and Mary Nichols. He went to school in Borger and worked for Phil-Tex, was an IBM sales rep, then traveled on the road for Redneck Trailer Supply and Tex-Trail before retiring in 2017.
Yvonne was born on March 29, 1951 in Newton, KS to Lloyd and Kenome Dugan. She moved to Borger with her family in the summer of ‘63 and attended school there. She worked at First Savings & Loan, Citizens Bank and Pioneer Lawyers before her retirement.
The two met in school in Borger and that’s where it all the began. They were friends and eventually middle school sweethearts. Although their lives took different paths for a time, they came back together in 1980 where they joined their hearts forever in marriage on April 12th.
Nick and Yvonne modeled a beautiful life of love…a deep love of God, a devoted love for each other, and a compassionate love for others. The legacy they leave behind is forever etched in the hearts and minds of those closest to them. We are forever grateful for the lessons they’ve taught us all.
They are survived by their children…
Christina Reams and husband Michael, Jason McCown and wife Tricia, and Nicole Nowell and husband Barry.
Nothing made them more proud than being “Momo and Papa” to Dara Handley and husband Shane, Emery Tosh and husband Kody, Ian Hughes, Anniston Hughes and Eli Brittain.
They are also survived by Yvonne’s only sister, Kiona Payne and husband Dick, a niece and nephew and other extended relatives.
Nick and Yvonne loved and laughed and lived in ways that those who knew them will never forget. You never left them without getting a big hug and being told how much you were loved. The two were inseparable in life and until their last breaths.
A Celebration of their Lives will be held 11:00 a.m. Thursday, February 3, 2022 at Grace Church with Pastor Marshall Ford officiating. Cremation was under the direction of Minton Chatwell Funeral Directors of Borger. The family will visit with friends immediately after the Celebration.
