Maria DeJesus Villegas, 62, passed away Tuesday, October 6, 2026.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 am on Saturday, October 10, 2026, at Saint John the Evangelist Catholic Church. Services are under the direction of Minton Chatwell Funeral Director of Borger. The rosary will be recited beginning at 6 pm on Friday, October 9, 2026, at the funeral home.

Maria was born January 25, 1964, in Santa Barbara, Chihuahua, Mexico to Jesus Villegas and Ramona Chavez. She was a fierce provider for her family, working various jobs over the years. Maria lived her life full of love and happiness. She never passed on a chance to listen to music and dance. Maria enjoyed going shopping, especially at Dillards. She found great comfort and joy feeding the hummingbirds outside of her home while listening to her windchimes. To know her was to love her, she was a true friend to many. Nothing brought more joy to her life than her family, mainly being called Grandma.

She is preceded in death by her father, Jesus Villegas; brothers, Jose Francisco “Lin” Villegas, Remedios Villegas; and sister, Carmelita Villegas.

Survivors include her mother, Ramona Chavez of Mexico; husband, Juan Heredia; son, Erick Reyes of Kansas City; daughter, Angie Reyes and husband Carlos Padilla of Borger; grandchildren, Erick Reyes, Jr., Alyssa Reyes, Emily Reyes, Alexander Reyes, Ian Padilla, Eli Padilla, Melanie Padilla, Rey Padilla, Alondra Padilla; brothers, Manuel Villegas, Geraldo Villegas, Rosario Villegas; sisters, Gloria Villegas, Consuelo Villegas, Ruth Villegas; numerous nieces and nephews; and a host of extended family.
