Marcia Diane Muir

Marcia Diane Muir, 82, passed away Sunday, September 20, 2026.

Graveside services will be held at 11 am on Thursday, September 24, 2026, in Panhandle Cemetery. The family will receive guests from 5-7 pm on Wednesday, September 23, 2026, at the funeral home. Services are under the direction of Minton Chatwell Funeral Directors of Panhandle. In lieu of flowers her memory may be honored with a gift to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation or to help fuel someone’s love of reading with a gift to your favorite library.

Marcia was born August 9, 1944, in Canadian, Texas to Erbin Crowell and Louise Tyner Crowell. She married Frank “Puff” Muir on November 21, 1964, in Canadian, Texas. Marcia loved the Lord with all her heart and soul. She surrounded herself with scripture, literally, and had handwritten favorite passages posted all over her home. Marcia shared the love of Christ by being a constant encourager to all, and somehow her words were always exactly what was needed to be heard.

A teacher by trade, it wasn’t just a job for her, she was the best teacher you could ever hope for. She taught for numerous school districts including Canadian, Panhandle, Plainview, Wildorado, Fritch, Kress, and Stinnett, her kindergarteners held a very special place in her heart. Even after retirement, she was still teaching her great grandkids to read.

Marcia loved to read, garden and do yardwork. She had an extremely creative mind, she did crocheting, knitting, tatting and was an immensely talented seamstress. This was her first job in high school, sewing wardrobes for various families.

Nothing brought more joy to her life than her family, especially being called “Marna” by her nieces, nephews, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Erbin and Louise Crowell; husband, Frank “Puff” Muir; son-in-law, Ron Griffith; and brothers, Erbin Crowell, Jr. and Max Crowell.

Survivors include her children, Amy Griffith of Canyon, Cindy and John Lieb of Pringle-Morse, and Douglas Muir and fiancé Tamber McKown of Bushland; grandchildren, Brett and Annika Spalding, Craig Spalding and Ben Schmitt, Scott and Kelsey Spalding, Molly Lieb, Kate Lieb, Cooper Lieb, Hayden Muir, James and Kasey Muir, Casey and Lindsey Muir, Shawna and Donovan McKeown and Farryn McKown; great grandchildren, Olivia and Stellan Spalding, Vincent and Wesley Spalding, Holden and Hailynn Muir, Rhyan, Preston, Noah and Lynnex Muir, and Miles, Kate, Emily, and Maggie McKeown; sister, Mary Hall of New Boston, Texas; numerous nieces and nephews; and a host of extended family.
