Mamie Rawlins

May 15, 1941 — December 15, 2021

Angleton

Mamie Shaw Rawlins of Angleton, TX , formerly a longtime resident of Phillips, TX, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, December 15, 2021 at 9:45 a.m. at the home of her son, Max.

Visitation will be from 9-10 a.m. on Tuesday, December 21, 2021 with the celebration of her life immediately following in the Minton Memorial Chapel with her great-nephew, Bradley Bentley, officiating. Burial will be at Westlawn Memorial Park under the direction of Minton Chatwell Funeral Directors. Pallbearers will be her grandsons. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Scottish Rite Hospital, Cal Farley’s Boys Ranch, St. Jude Hospital or a charity of your choice.

Mamie was born in McCrory, AR on May 15, 1941 to Ewell and Nell Shaw. She was the youngest of three children. After moving to Borger, she met Harold “Butch” Rawlins, and according to their friends at the time, they were struck by the lightning bolt of true love at first sight. They were married on May 27, 1957.  Their marriage lasted 61 years. They had three children and raised them in Phillips, as Blackhawks, like their dad.

Mamie was a homemaker while raising their children. She owned and operated The Youth Mart in Borger from 1977 until 1988, when they moved to Lewisville, TX to be closer to their children and grandchildren. She was a long standing member of Eastern Star. She loved to travel and enjoyed hobbies such as china and acrylic on wood painting, sewing and cooking. She liked entertaining guests and nothing gave her more pleasure than spoiling her family with delicious food. The grandkids always said nobody could cook as good as Mema. She enjoyed the family cookouts around their pool and seeing all of the grandchildren and great-grandchildren learn to swim there. She loved her family; wherever the kids and grandkids were was where you would find her and Butch.  Though she will be missed, her family finds peace and rejoices in the fact that she’s with her husband along with family and friends that have gone before her.

Mamie is survived by her daughter, Natalie Rawlins of Borger, her son, Max Rawlins and his wife, Yania, of Angleton, TX, and her daughter, Karla Dietz and her husband, Wendell, of St. Francisville, LA.

Grandsons, Michael Parrish of Amarillo, TX, Jared Parrish of Little Elm, TX, Derek Parrish and his wife, Kristin, of Lewisville, TX, Caleb Dietz of Port Arthur, TX, and U. S. Coast Guardsman Cole Dietz of Portsmouth, VA.

Granddaughters, Rachel Rawlins and her husband, Lee Carver, of Denton, TX and Emily Rawlins of Corpus Christi, TX.

Great-Granddaughter, Jade Parrish of Little Elm, TX.

Great-Grandsons, Seth Parrish of Corinth, TX, Landon Parrish of Argyle, TX, Caden Bristow, Kenny, Kenden and Beau Carver of Denton, TX and Maddox Dietz of St. Francisville, LA.

Mamie was preceded in death by her husband, Butch, her parents, her brother, Bob Shaw, and her sister, Donna Robinson.
