Leland Wade Dunham (Lee), a longtime resident of Borger, passed away in Kerrville, Texas on December 23, 2020, at the age of 96. Lee was the first of 4 children born to Lester Fay and Dorothy Maxine (Light) Dunham on September 21, 1924 in Lamar (Rural), Prowers County, Colorado.  Predeceasing him were his parents; one sister, Donna Faye Dunham Alexander; and one brother, Bill Dunham. He is survived by his wife, Marie; one daughter from a previous marriage, Kathy Lee Dunham Hakala (Peter) of Ingram, Texas; Marie’s sons: Glenn Carter (Annette), Tedd Carter (Kim) and Jeff Carter; and one sister, Janet Hoefer (Mickey) of Aledo, Texas; and many nieces and nephews.

Lee grew up and attended schools in Lamar, Colorado, until he joined the United States Army Air Corp in 1943, and proudly served his country as a B-17 gunnery instructor.  In 1944, he was honorably discharged as a Sargent.  After discharge, he joined his parents in Borger and in 1945 began his 44 year employment with the J.M. Huber Corporation, retiring in 1989 as Manager of Purchasing, Equipment Division.

Lee was an avid fisherman, bird hunter and woodworker. He and Marie were active in their church and spent many winters as ‘snowbirds’ in Mesa, Arizona.   Lee loved his country, his family, and his friends.

A private graveside service will be held in Westlawn Memorial Park, Borger, Texas.

His was a life well lived and a man well loved.
