John Andrew Wright passed away on July 8, 2025, in Fritch, Texas, at the age of 72. Born on January 30, 1953, in Borger, Texas, John started his career as a sheet metalist but was best known as the newspaper carrier for the Borger News Herald in Fritch.
He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed fishing and hunting. John also found satisfaction in creating model trains, displayed a unique talent for cross stitching, and enjoyed sports trading card collecting. He was a big fan of all types of sports; his favorite teams being the Dallas Cowboys, Texas Rangers, and the Texas Longhorns. John also loved watching movies; in particular, "Logan's Hero". In the evenings, he enjoyed reading books.
John is survived by his daughter, Brandi Wright of Pampa, and his son, John David Wright, formerly of Fritch, currently of Washington state. John was a proud grandfather, leaving behind grandchildren Lisa Marie Kosarek and Austin Melendrez, as well as his great-granddaughter, Ivory Elizabeth Marie Kosarek. He also leaves behind his brother-in-law, James (Griz) Gray of Fritch, along with his nephew, James N. Gray III, his wife Kerri, and their two children of Fort Worth, Texas and nephew SGM David J. Gray, along with his wife Sarah and their three daughters from Fort Still, Oklahoma, are part of John's extended family, which includes many cousins and relatives who will remember him fondly.
John Andrew Wright is preceded in death by his parents, his wife Evelyn, and his sister, Gail.
Cremation is under the direction of Minton Chatwell Funeral Directors.
