John Augustus Cooper, 89, of White Deer, TX passed away on September 17, 2006 in Panhandle, TX. Services will be on Wednesday, September 20, 2006 at 10:00 a.m. at the BRWhite Deer United Methodist Church with the Rev. John Dorn, retired UMC Pastor of Shamrock, TX and Pam Lehman, Pastor of the White Deer UMC, White Deer, TX officiating. Burial will be in the White Deer Cemetery, White Deer, TX. BR

Mr. Cooper was born on March 7, 1917 in Joplin, MO to Benjamin Harrison and Mischa Arabell McDaniel Cooper.Mr. Cooper was a resident of White Deer for 45 years. He worked as a Production Superintendent for Dorchester Gas Company and retired after 35 years of service. John was a loving family man with a great sense of humor and a passion for baseball as a player and a coach. As a history buff he could recall many a story. He also served as a Chaplain for the Oddfellows.BRHe was preceded in death by his wife, Marguerite; a son, John Benjamin Cooper in 2000; two brothers; and one sister.

BRSurvivors include two daughters, Anna and husband Terry Lewis of Panhandle, TX, and Debbie and husband Buddy Cummins of San Antonio, TX; two sons, David and wife Wandee Cooper of Las Vegas, NV, and Charles and wife Sharon Cooper of Aurora, CO; one brother, Andy and wife Bobbie Cooper of Santa Maria, CA; and two sisters, Maribell Ash and Louise StClair both of Joplin, MO; seven grandchildren, Kara Lewis, Chris Cooper, Melissa Smith, Carol Ann Foster, Scott Cooper, Tiffany Cooper and Gregg Cooper; five great grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Casket Bearers will be John Vermillion, Lem Greene, Grady Melton, Tam Terry, Dick Pierce and Clifford Mynear.
