Joey was born July 14, 1971, in Borger to James William Barnett and Marlene Joye Barnett. He worked as a security guard for Allied Universal and Phillips. Joey loved Mountain Monsters, Star Trek and playing video games especially Fortnite, Red Deed Redemption, and Grand Theft Auto 5. He had an amazing sense of humor and loved to make people smile and joke around with everyone. Joey loved attending Comicon.

He is preceded in death by his parents, James and Marlene Barnett; grandparents, Jack and Ruby Barnett, Otis and Margie Branum; and wife, Hailey Sickels.

Survivors include his daughters, Sara Barnett of Fort Worth, Hannah Barnett of Borger; bonus daughters, Alicia Smith of Borger, Ashton Sandoval of Borger, Kiara Chavez of San Marcos; grandson, Carter; brothers, James Barnett and wife Lori of Stinnett, Jeff Barnett and wife Adina of Conroe; bonus brother, Brian Myers and wife Amanda of Borger; nephews, Benjamin Barnett and wife Jennifer of Conroe, Josh Barnett of Willis; nieces, Christina Barney and husband Norman of Borger, Beth Manning and husband Shane of Montgomery; great nephews, Patrick Barney, Ryan Barney, Jerrod Barney; great-great nephew, Hudson; uncles, Bill Barnett of Borger, Smokey Barnett and wife Margaret of Panhandle; his beloved canines, Stitch, Puppet and Violet; and host of extended family.
