Joel E. Martinez, 57, passed away Sunday, May 11, 2025.

A celebration of his life will be held at 11 am on Saturday, June 7, 2025, at Open Gates Fellowship Church in Amarillo. Cremation was under the direction of Minton Chatwell Funeral Directors of Borger.

Joel was born May 29, 1967, in Hereford, Texas to Jesus D. Martinez and Maria E. Esquivel Martinez. He enjoyed watching Star Trek and collected model spaceships. Joel loved his dog, Shorty and his cat, Azrial.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Jesus and Maria Martinez; and cousin, Daniel Esquivel.

Survivors include his brother, Jesse Martinez and wife Becky of Hereford; nephew, James Martinez and wife Delia of Hereford; great nieces and nephew, Nicholas Martinez, Jasmine Martinez, Alyssa Martinez; and cousins, Adrian Esquivel and wife Rebecca, Gilbert Esquivel and wife Eydie, Melissa Harris and husband David, David Esquivel and wife Brandilyn, and Damian Esquival and wife Josie.
