Jeff D. Cook, 65, of Fritch, went to be with our Lord on March 5, 2026, in Fritch surrounded by family.
Funeral services will be 11:00 am Tuesday, March 10, 2026, at First Southern Baptist Church in Fritch. Burial will be in Lieb Cemetery under the direction of Minton Chatwell Funeral Directors of Fritch. There will be a visitation at the funeral home in Fritch on Monday, March 9, 2026, from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm.
Jeff was born in Pampa, Texas on April 3, 1960, to Darrell Gene and Sally Jo (Richardson) Cook. He grew up in Pampa later moving to Borger, Clarendon, Howardwick and finally residing in Fritch. Jeff graduated from Pampa High School in 1978 and in September 1981 went to work at the Phillips 66 Refinery in Borger. He started in the yard then on to the carpenter shop, excelling through various positions including operations, stillman, and then remained running the boards; working along side many colleagues that were great friends for 42 years. He was proud to start a business in October of 2020 with his son in Fritch called Cook’s Feed Shack and later expanded to Cook’s Feed Shack and Greenhouse. Jeff received District Elk of the year 1987-1989, he served as Exalted Ruler of the Borger Elks Lodge #1581. Among his many accomplishments as a proud Elk was his support of the Texas Elks Children Hospital Soccer Shoot Out Hoop Shoot! He served as Captain in the Howardwick Volunteer Fire Department during the Texas Wildfires of 2006. He proudly received the “Medal of Valor” for his bravery, courage, and commitment to his community, to his “Brotherhood of Firefighters.” Jeff was also awarded “The Star of Texas” by Governor Rick Perry. During his tenure as Captain for the HVFD in October 2006 he was unanimously voted in as Fire Chief, which he served with pride. Jeff always took great pride in his family and children who brought him a lot of joy.
Jeff is preceded in death by grandparents, Lee Richardson, Sally Boswell, George, Lulu Cook; parents, Darrell Cook, Sally and Jake Roden; brother, Steve Cook; and nephew, Dakota Cook.
Jeff is survived by four siblings, Debbie Sterling and husband Ricky of Las Cruces, New Mexico, Mike Cook of Lebanon, Missouri, Johnny Cook of Borger, Lisa Roden of Borger; three children, Natalie Cook Torio and husband Samuel of New Braunfels, Lee Cook and wife Robyn Griffin Cook of Fritch, Shiann Cook Elllis and husband Dylan of Borger; grandchildren, Joshua Bishop, LeeAnndra Torio, Grace Zink, Collin Zink, Mellany Cook, Jacklynn Ellis and Koltan Ellis.
