Jacqueline Cosper West

Jacqueline Cosper West, 80, of Panhandle, Texas, passed away on May 7, 2025. She was born on March 2, 1945.

She is survived by her children: Kelly Arrington, Celeste West Bichsel (Shane), and Candice West-Mathewson (Kris); eight grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, James West. Jacqueline and James were married on June 11, 1966, and built a life full of love, laughter, and shared adventures.

Jacqueline worked for Carson County for 25 years as Auditor and was a proud member of the Texas Association of County Auditors. Her career was a source of pride and accomplishment.

She was proud to be the only girl among three brothers and carried that independence and spirit with her throughout her life. She was strong-willed and determined, never afraid to speak her mind or stand her ground. She loved to fish—but loved eating fish even more. She also enjoyed trips to the casino, where she could relax and gamble a little for fun. She was an avid genealogist who spent countless hours researching family history, including work on her lineage for membership in the Daughters of the American Revolution.

She loved staying busy and doing her best for those around her. She especially loved being “Mom” and “Meme,” and treasured time with her family. She will be missed.

In lieu of flowers or a meal train, the family encourages food donations to organizations that support children in need—a cause close to Jacqueline’s heart.

Graveside services will be held at 10 am on Monday, May 12, 2025, in Panhandle Cemetery, under the direction of Minton Chatwell Funeral Directors of Panhandle.
