Harold Courtney

Harold Courtney, 88, passed away Sunday, December 24, 2023.

Funeral services will be held at 2:30 pm on Wednesday, December 27, 2023, in the Minton Memorial Chapel with Pastor Danny Courtney officiating.  Burial will follow in Westlawn Memorial Park under the direction of Minton Chatwell Funeral Directors of Borger. 

Harold was born August 25, 1935, in Durant, Oklahoma to Clyde Courtney and Alice James Courtney.  He grew up in Grant, Oklahoma.  Harold was a long-time truck driver, took movie tickets at The Morley, and dispatched cabs back when Borger had a taxi service.  He enjoyed taking pictures, walking around town, making paperclip necklaces, drawing pictures, writing stories, and passing out candy.  Harold also liked to spend time at the library and the donut shop.  He was known and loved by everyone.

He is preceded in death by his father, Clyde Courtney; mother, Alice Adcock; sisters, Anita Reed, Judy Benton; brother, C.W. Adcock; and sister-in-law, Bobbie Courtney.

Survivors include his sons, Eddie Courtney and wife Chris of Crowley, Texas, Gregory Courtney and wife Sandy of Bullard, Texas; daughter, Marie Haynes; brothers, James Courtney and wife Carolyn of Borger, Danny Courtney of Borger; grandchildren, Dawn and husband James; Tiffany Smirl and husband Chris, Janie Meredith and husband Brent; great grandchildren, Jace Smirl, Bryan Smirl, Hayden Smirl, Hudson Meredith; numerous nieces and nephews; and a host of extended family and friends.
