Gorden Chamberlain

July 23, 1925 — August 25, 2006

Gorden Edward Chamberlain, 81, died on August 25, 2006 in Amarillo, Texas. BRBRFuneral services will be held at Calvary Baptist Church in Panhandle, Monday August 28, 2006 at 10:00 a.m. With Rev. Brent Childers officiating. Interment will be in Panhandle Cemetery under the direction of Minton-Chatwell Funeral Directors of Panhandle, Texas. BR Mr. Chamberlain was born July 23, 1925 in Vernon, Texas to Newt and Bessie Chamberlain and was raised in Ringling, OK. He married Doris Jean Gaddis on November 11, 1945. Gorden served in the U.S. Army in Germany during WWII, worked the family farm after the war and later worked in the oil fields. He and Jean moved to the Texas Panhandle in 1958 where Gorden worked at Pantex until retiring after 30 years of loyal service in 1988. Jean died July 29, 1994. In June 15, 1996 Gorden married Nelda Dills. Gorden loved his family, the church and his country. He loved to travel, work in the yard, and beat Wes at the dumb game. The children gave Gorden a Life Achievement Award 80 Years Strong in 2005. Presented to Gorden E. Chamberlain, Dad, Grandad, Husband and Friend. Thank God for our Dad. This says it all. He shall be missed. Gorden is survived by his wife of the home, a daughter Joan and usband Wes Long of Ransom Canyon; a daughter Rhonda and husband Doug Maxey of Amarillo; a son Gorden and wife April Chamberlain of Amarillo; a daughter Jama and husband Dave Friemel of Amarillo; a daughter Paula Crawford of Albuquerque, NM; and an adopted daughter Cathy Lydon of Albuquerque, NM. There are four step-children - Roger and Donna Stevens of Sparks, NV; Donna and Rick Thompson of Amarillo, Thomas and Beatriz Stevens of Lubbock; M'Lissa and Brian Hester of Lubbock, TX; two brothers - Leon Chamberlain of Ardmore, Ok., Bud Chamberlain of Stillwater, Ok, sister - Peggy Bauman of Ardmore, Ok., 28 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren. Casket Bearers will be Jason Green, Gorden Chamberlain III, Josh Crawford, Matt Crawford, Kelby Friemel, Tim Chamberlain, Dusty Cunningham and Aaron Hester.BR
