Glenda Gail Guffey Moore, 87, passed away Thursday, March 5, 2026.
Funeral services will be held at 11 am on Monday, March 9, 2026, at the Church of Christ at Borger. Burial will follow in Highland Park Cemetery under the direction of Minton Chatwell Funeral Directors of Borger. The family will receive friends from 5-7 pm on Sunday, March 8, 2026, at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, her memory may be honored with a gift to the Church of Christ at Borger, 1100 Bulldog Blvd., Borger, Texas, 79007.
Glenda was born July 10, 1938, in Munday, Texas to Bob Guffey and Jackie Geneva Carden Guffey. She married Wendel Moore on May 25, 1957, in Munday. Glenda was a member of the Church of Christ at Borger. She taught the baby class there for over 20 years. Glenda began her working career at the Perry Variety Store in High School, then went to work for Whites Auto in Abilene. Her career in Borger started with a transfer to Whites Auto, then Panhandle Auto Insurance Group and then she found her niche as a warehouse buyer for Phillips. Shopping was Glenda’s favorite pastime. She also enjoyed sewing, quilting, and crocheting. Glenda made her daughter dresses for every occasion while she was growing up. She crocheted blankets for all her grandchildren, who lovingly called her Gangi. When her children were younger, she served as Wendye’s Girl Scout Leader and Steve’s Cub Scout Leader. Glenda enjoyed her many traveling adventures she had with Wendel over the years. Nothing brought more joy to her life than her family.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Bob and Jackie Guffey; and sisters, Gloria Sue Masters and Donza Raye Huffman.
Survivors include her husband, Wendel Moore of Borger; son, Steve Moore and wife LaDawn of Borger; Wendye Murley and husband Cliff of Borger; grandchildren, Heather Hammit and husband Wheeler, Dylan Moore, Ashley Shields and husband Seth, Jason Murley and fiancé Lauren Hartman, Justin Murley and wife Mattie, Lindsay McWilliams and husband Peyton; great grandchildren, Marcus, Karson, Olivia, Eliza, Weston, Evelynn, Emily, Molly, Chisum, Ryleigh, Laynie, Marley; sisters, Bobbie Jack Collins of Abilene, Diane Jean Lee and husband Quay of Graham; brother-in-law, Johnnie Huffman of Stephenville; numerous nieces and nephews; and a host of extended family.
