Edna Eileen King

October 26, 1951 — March 17, 2024

Borger

On March 17, St. Patrick’s Day, the world lost an independent, strong willed, one-of-a-kind, free spirit. Edi was beautiful and extremely intelligent and with that brain of hers could have done great things, but she had other more exciting things to do. In the early 70s, following her own star, she moved to California and joined a hippie commune. After a couple of years there and a few years in Oklahoma, she moved to central Texas to be around her siblings. After moving back home to Borger she became seriously ill and spent a few weeks in a coma. It caused a little brain damage which made her persnickety at times, but she still had a heart of gold.

She loved giving gifts to her loved ones even when she really couldn’t afford it. She spent money meant for herself on birdseed and flowers. When living near Bastrop, she used her green thumb to envelope her house with flowers and vines like a fairy cottage.

Having no children of her own, Edi loved her nieces and nephews best of all and called them regularly just to touch base and see how they were doing.

Edi was preceded in death by her parents, Roskoe and Bridget King, one brother John King, and two sisters Peggy King and Noreen King. She is survived by two sisters Gladie King and Kathie King, eight brothers Pat King, Mike King, Kevin King, Steven King, Brian King, David King, Bob King and Tim King. A host of nieces, nephews and their children.

Edi was loved and will be remembered.

Rest in peace dear sister and sweet aunt.
