Earl Owens

Earl Ray Owens, 69, of Sanford, Texas went to be with Jesus, in Amarillo on December 30, 2020.  Services will be at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, January 5, 2021 at Grace Church, officiated by Ricky Griffin.  Cremation is under the direction of Minton Chatwell Funeral Directors.  The services will be live streamed on Minton Chatwell website.  There will be a visitation with the family on Monday, January 4, from 5 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home.

Earl was born on May 23, 1951 to Robert and Norma Wallace Owens in Borger, Texas.  He was a lifetime resident of the area and a member of Grace Church.  Earl proudly served his country in the United States Navy.  He was married to Starla Duncan on May 8, 1998 in Sanford by Ricky Griffin.  Earl loved motorcycles, fishing, raising his cows, watering his trees and taking orders from his grandchildren.  He was also the proud owner of Antelope Creek Leather.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his step-father John Greer, his son Brandon Janow, his first wife, Theresa Lanham Owens, his two brothers, Sonny Greer and Robert Dean Owens, Jr.

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife Starla; sons, Jesse Gray of Beaumont, Texas, Dustin Gray of North Dakota, Clayton Gray of Borger; daughters, Stephanie Smith and husband, Trey of Panhandle Texas, Hollie Gray of Sanford, Kari Gray of Odessa, Texas; brothers, Dennis Greer and wife, Lauren of Houston, Texas, Carl Owens and Mary of Temple, Texas;  sisters,Rhonda Farris of Conroe, Texas, Denia Brewer and husband, Harold of New Caney, Oklahoma, and Kathy Gallegos.  Earl was blessed with fourteen grandchildren and one great-granddaughter.

The family requested that in lieu of flowers you purchase a bible and give it to someone in need.
