Dorothy Scherlen

Dorothy Ellen Scherlen, 94 of Borger passed away in Amarillo, TX on Friday April 22, 2022. Funeral Mass will be 10:00 am Tuesday, April 26, 2022, at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church. Burial will be at 2:00 pm Tuesday, April 26, 2022, in Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Minton Chatwell Funeral Directors of Borger. Rosary will be at 6:00 pm, Monday, April 25, 2022, at Minton Memorial Chapel.

Dorothy was born July 17, 1927, in Roswell, NM to Chester and Ella (Smith) Mason. She came to Borger in 1953. She worked at Phillips Petroleum for 31 and a half years as a secretary. She volunteered at St Johns as a secretary since 1984. She married Lt Col. Emil Ryan Scherlen April 9, 1988, in Borger. She was a member of the Jane Phillips Society since 1954, St John’s Altar Society, Las Amigas Extension Club, and the Hutchinson County Sheriff’s Posse. She loved to cook and bake. In 2011 she got five great grandchildren the same year.

Preceding her in death are her parents, husband, two brothers, Joseph Mason and Lawrence Mason; sister, Mildred Woodson; grandson, Justin Scherlen.

Survivors are her son, Tom and wife Nancy of Amarillo; daughter, Nancy and husband Carson Williams of Miami, TX; four grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren.
