Donald Rex Gipson

Donald Rex Gipson, age 88, passed from this life on July 2, 2026. He was born on November 8, 1937, at home on the family farm in Wheeler County, Texas, near the small state-line community of Texola, Oklahoma.

Don built a long and respected career in the oil and gas energy industry, serving as Drilling Superintendent for Sand Springs in the 1970s, Field Superintendent for Wildcat Oilfield Construction in the 1980s, and later working in security with Guardsmark Security Services throughout the 1990s and 2000s. His work ethic, leadership, and steady presence earned him the trust of colleagues across decades and industries.

A devoted husband, father, and man of faith, Don was a longtime resident of Stinnett, Texas, from 1969 to 2016. He and his late wife, Lula Faye, raised their family there and were active members of Victory Baptist Church for more than 4 decades, each serving in numerous roles and ministries. In his later years, Don continued his service through church music ministries in Shamrock, Texas, and most recently at Bolton Street Baptist Church in Amarillo while residing at Bivins Village. His love of worship and fellowship remained central to his life.

Don was preceded in death by his beloved spouse, Lula Faye; his parents, Lee Alexander and Jessie Lee (Shipman) Gipson; an infant son, Russell (Rusty) Delbert; and siblings Duanne Gipson, Betty Butler, Wanda Locke, Neta Ault, Barbara Ferril, and Dorthy Gipson.

He is survived by four sons: Rob Gipson and wife Linda of Amarillo; Rick Gipson and wife Lee of San Isabel, Colorado; Derick Gipson and wife Debra of Bartlesville, Oklahoma; and Dain Gipson and wife Jenny of Hempstead, Texas. Don also leaves behind a large and loving grand family including 11 grandchildren, 27 greatgrandchildren, and 8 greatgreatgrandchildren, each, a testament to the legacy of faith, resilience, and family devotion he built over a lifetime.

Don will be remembered for his Love of Jesus, his love for music, unwavering integrity, deep love for family, and steadfast commitment to his church communities. His life touched many, and his legacy will continue through all who knew and loved him.
