Don Bednorz

Don Bednorz, age 77 died January 12, 2022. He was born on February 27, 1944, the ninth child of Julius and Mary Bednorz. He married Mary Belle Gibson on August 21, 1965.

Don retired from Xcel Energy (Southwestern Public Service Company) in May of 2006 after a career of 42 years.

Don was a member of St. Theresa Catholic Church.

Community service include: church committees, trustee on the board of Panhandle Independent School District; director on the Board of Directors of Region 16 Education Service Center; member of the Carson County Appraisal Review Board; member of City of Panhandle Planning and Zoning Committee; treasure of the Panhandle Association of School Boards; member of the Knights of Columbus.

Don was preceded in death by his parents, Julius and Mary Bednorz and his brother John Bednorz and sisters Larrine Qualls, Betty Calkins.and Pauline Lowe.

Don is survived by his wife, Mary Belle of Panhandle, Texas, his daughter Kristi (Greg) Caldwell of Nacogdoches, Texas, his son Matthew Bednorz (Jamie) of Tucumcari, New Mexico, grandchildren Emily Gavin of San Antonio, Texas Alyssa Caldwell, Grant Caldwell, and Cole Caldwell all of Nacogdoches, Texas; Addison Bednorz and Daniel Bednorz of Tucumcari, New Mexico. He is also survived by his sisters Mary Lee Hebert of Welch, La., Leona Mathes of Lubbock, TX, Clara McNamara of Georgetown, TX., and brother Douglas Bednorz of Panhandle, TX.
