Dave Madden

Dave Madden, 62, passed away Tuesday, September 9, 2025.

Funeral services will be held at 2:30 pm on Saturday, September 13, 2025, at Faith Covenant Church in Borger. Burial will follow in Westlawn Memorial Park under the direction of Minton Chatwell Funeral Directors of Borger. The family will receive friends from 5-7 pm on Friday, September 12, 2025, at the funeral home. His memory may be honored with a gift to Faith 4 the Future Building Fund, C/O Faith Covenant Church, 200 North McGee Street, Borger, Texas, 79007.

Dave was born August 27, 1963, in Lincoln, Nebraska to John Madden and Jan Weisbeck Madden. He married Cindy Mellema on August 2, 1986, in Rock Rapids, Iowa. Dave received his master’s degree in chemical engineering from the University of Wyoming, and he worked as a chemical engineer for petrochemical companies in Borger for over 35 years.

A dedicated and faithful member of Faith Covenant Church, Dave served and led in many capacities over his 20 years there. He served as Chairman of the Elders, church treasurer, Sunday school teacher, and leader of various home groups and Bible studies.

Dave was also very active in the community. He volunteered many years and acted as president of United Way, alumnus of Leadership Borger, and president of the Borger Bulldog Tennis Booster Club.

He enjoyed camping, backpacking, grilling and just being outdoors. Dave was an avid Kansas City Chiefs and Royals fan, and his dry wit and smile could lighten the mood in nearly any situation. Dave was a man of strong faith in his Lord Jesus Christ, and the gift of his family brought incredible joy to his life, especially hearing his grandchildren call him Papa.

He is preceded in death by his father, John Madden.

Survivors include his wife of 39 years, Cindy of Borger, Texas; children, Elizabeth Dickey and husband Jonathan of Woodland Park, Colorado, Joshua Madden and wife Jessica of Houston, Texas, Abigail Madden of Houston, Texas, Aaron Madden and wife Holly of Fayetteville, Arkansas, Rachel Ritchie and husband Jess of Stillwater, Oklahoma, Anna Madden of Canyon, Texas, Benjamin Madden of Stillwater, Oklahoma; grandchildren, Avery, Harper, Alleene, Kenlee and one due to arrive in February; mother, Jan Madden of Rock Rapids, Iowa; brothers, Mike Madden and wife Jean of Omaha, Nebraska, Loren Madden and wife Robyn of Christchurch, New Zealand, Steve Madden and wife Alissa of Eagan, Minnesota; numerous nieces and nephews; and a host of extended family.
