Darrell Gene Forbes

Darrell Gene “Porky” Forbes, 78, of Panhandle passed away on April 3, 2026, in Amarillo. Graveside services will be 11:00 am Tuesday, April 7, 2026, in Panhandle Cemetery under the direction of Minton Chatwell Funeral Directors of Panhandle.

Darrell was born on October 26, 1947, in Amarillo to L. F. and Latrece Forbes. He graduated from Westbrook High School in 1966. He joined the US Air Force right out of school which took him to Germany, Japan, Turkey and Vietnam.

Darrell loved the outdoors and was an avid hunter and fisherman. He was a professional tinkerer always building and fixing something.

Darrell is preceded in death by his parents and a brother Ronny Forbes.

Surviving is his son Nathan and wife Misty of Panhandle. Daughter Natalie Lowery and husband Dwayne of Amarillo. Grandchildren Keylee Jones and husband Jeremy of Stamford, TX, Kayla Hightower and husband Bradley of Amarillo, Brayden Forbes of Stephenville, Hayden Forbes and Jayden Forbes of Panhandle. Great grandchildren Beau Hightower, Beckett and Parker Jones. Sisters Twana Sullins and husband Dan of Cleveland, TX, Betty Anthony and husband Charles of Van Couver, WA. Sister-in-law Jimmy Lou Forbes of Snyder, TX. His best buddy Fred his dog.
