Danny David Courtney, 81, passed away Saturday, June 6, 2026.
Funeral services will be 2:00 pm Thursday, June 11, 2026, at Fellowship Baptist Church in Borger with Pastor Bobby Bridges. Burial will be at Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Minton Chatwell Funeral Directors of Borger. The family will receive guests from 5-7 pm on Wednesday, June 10, 2026.
Danny was born February 27, 1945, in Grant, Oklahoma to Clyde Carl Courtney and Alice Elizabeth James Courtney. He married Bobbie Gay Murley March 28, 1964, in Borger. Danny proudly served in the Army National Guard for 8 years from 1963-1971. He received a Texas Faithful Service Medal. Danny was the pastor of First Baptist Church in Fritch prior to his retirement. He then started a home church group called Ekklesia. Danny enjoyed woodworking, studying the Bible and watching the Atlanta Braves play baseball. If you knew Danny, his favorite pastime was just visiting with people, getting to know them and just extending Christ’s love to them. Nothing brought him more joy than being called Grandad.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Clyde and Alice Courtney; wife, Bobbie Courtney; daughter, Mandy Hernandez; granddaughter, Stephanie Courtney; brothers, Harold Courtney, CW Adcock; and sisters, Anita Reed and Judy Benton.
Survivors include his daughter, Kristi Harms and husband Greg of Borger; son, David Courtney of Pampa; grandchildren, Sarah Phagan and husband Trevor of Borger, Nathan Harms and wife Alli of Borger, Kelci Courtney of Borger, Jaiton Hernandez of Amarillo, Brenden Courtney of Aledo; great grandchildren, Iris, Luna, Jade, Zaylee, Venice; brother, James Courtney and wife Carolyn of Borger; and numerous nieces and nephews; and a host of extended family.
