Daniel James Burse

Daniel James “Danny Boy” Burse, 77, passed away, Thursday, June 5, 2025.

Funeral services will be held at 11 am on Saturday, June 14, 2025, at Celebration Family Church in Fritch. Burial will follow in Westlawn Memorial Park under the direction of Minton Chatwell Funeral Directors of Borger. Danny Boy will lie in state beginning at 8 am on Thursday, June 12, 2025. The family will receive guests from 5-7 pm on Friday, June 13, 2025, at the funeral home.

Danny Boy was born November 3, 1947, in Austin, Texas to Daniel King and Myrtle Overton King. He worked for over 58 years for Kinder Morgan and Natural Gas Pipeline. Danny Boy was a gifted quartet singer and loved singing gospel music. An avid sportsman, he enjoyed playing softball, watching the Texas Longhorns, and watching the Dallas Cowboys. He had a huge heart and loved big, he always asked if you needed anything. Danny Boy never turned down a chance to hang out with family and friends, where a domino game was sure to break out. He loved classic cars, especially his red Chevy.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Daniel and Myrtle King; wife, Juanita Jackson Burse; son, Toby Woods; sister, Ethel Burse Jackson; and brothers, Jimmy Lee Burse, Robert Lee King, Harold Ray King, and LeRoy Burse, Jr.

Survivors include his daughters, Danyale Gonzales of Borger, Evangela Burse of Borger, Tony Woods Christian and husband Brian Christian of DeSoto; son, Robert Charles Burse of Borger; grandchildren, Jennifer Gonzales, Trevor Gonzales, Daniel Salinas, Wesley Haworth, Auden Burse, Brian Watie, Jordon Peterson; great grandchildren, Preston Burse, Gabriella White, Kaiden Haworth, Carter Watie, Aleena Gonzales, Zaydan Gonzales, Aleigha Soto; goddaughter, Elizabeth Rios; brothers, Donald King of Borger, Charles Burse and wife Elizabeth of Austin; sisters, Carolyn Burse King, Delana King, Marion Cunningham, Wanda King Salinas, Wanda Dickson King all of Borger; numerous nieces and nephews; and a host of extended family and friends.

Pallbearers will be Maurice Cunningham, Ray Burse, Reggie Burse, Steven Burse, Jared Salinas, and Eron Haynes. Honorary pallbearers will be Robert Bradley, Alvin Ferguson, Bubba Dixon, Todd Ronning, Drew Williams, Corey Bliss, Midnight Simmons, Jackson Lara, and Pat Murphy.
