Funeral services will be held 2 pm on Saturday, November 28, 2020 at Celebration Family Church. Burial will follow in Westlawn Memorial Park under the direction of Minton Chatwell Funeral Directors of Fritch. Services will also be available live at the bottom of this obit page. The family will receive friends from 5-7 pm on Friday, November 27, 2020 at the funeral home in Fritch. In lieu of flowers his memory may be honored with a gift to anything that would benefit Hutchinson County, the county he loved so very much.
Dale was born December 12, 1965 in Amarillo to Clifton Herbst and Carol Ann Cornett Herbst. He attended Texas Tech University and never lost his affection for his alma mater. On October 12, 2013 Dale married the love of his life, Karmin Bell. Their love was one to be jealous of, if only everyone were so lucky to find a love like theirs. In this union came a family, one full of love and crazy nicknames. He earned his nicknames as Step-Dale, Papa and HoHo and wore those titles with great honor.
He served his fellow man as the Hutchinson County Commissioner, Precinct 2, a job he held in high regard and performed with utmost integrity and passion. Dale was a hard worker and that never went unnoticed during his 35 years of service for TXDOT where he retired as an assistant foreman. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, laughing and took tremendous pride in his yard. Dale also enjoyed watching all sports, especially ones members of his family were participating in, including 4-H activities.
He is preceded in death by his grandparents, Francis and Marie Herbst, Clifford and Mary Cornett; uncle and aunt, Oliver and Mary Lou Earnest; grandchildren, Sunny Pool; and cousins, Susan Doughten and Margaret Ynacay.
