Connie went to sleep in this earthly world holding his daughter’s hand and woke up in the presence of Jesus Friday morning March 29, 2024. Connie was surrounded in love by his numerous family and friends the past few weeks reminiscing with all of his favorite stories. He had one for everyone that came into his room.
Connie was born in Quanah, Texas on September 23, 1949, to Virginia Lee (Hackney) Green and JI Green. On May 22, 1950, Virginia married Linnard Earl Gorley who stepped into the shoes of father and rose to the occasion and became dad.
With his family, at the age of ten, Connie moved to Borger. He graduated from Borger High School in 1970. In 1971 Connie began his career as an auto parts salesman at First Supply. He would go on to work at, well, most of the part stores in town and a few in Amarillo and Oklahoma. He was manager, operator at Parts Plus, and Big A Automotive. He was a master drum and roter turner, and paint mixer. He would go on to retire from M&M Napa in 2018. After his retirement you could find Connie driving around town giving anyone who needed a ride a ride, or mapping out all of the places he used to live. He liked to meet his friends at Braums for breakfast most every day.
On November 23, 1980, in Phillips, Texas, Connie married Judy Harbin. Adding her three adult children to his heart and life. In 1982 he became PaPa Connie. His greatest joys were attending every sporting event of his grandchildren and great grandchildren, working on cars with Paul, watching the Dallas Cowboys with Big John, setting on the front porch and spending holidays with Teri, and forcing Jaclin to learn to love old school country.
Connie attended Borger First Assembly.
He had a love for Jesus and a heart the size of Texas. He lived his life with a servants heart, if there was someone in need he found a way to help them, even if it meant he himself did without.
