It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Charlie Melton Cummings on May 2, 2025. A beloved father, grandfather, brother, uncle, friend, and soon to be great-grandfather. Charlie's warmth, strength, and generous heart will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Charlie was born July 7, 1946, in Webb, Mississippi to Terrell and Dorothy Cummings. He married Jo Carol Fain on August 20, 1964. Jo Carol preceded him in death on September 12, 2021.
Charlie was a devoted father and grandfather. He took great pride in their lives and accomplishments, and his love for them was steadfast and always true. His guidance, patience, and support shaped their paths and left a legacy of love that will carry on through generations.
Charlie’s life was marked by integrity, resilience, and a deep commitment to family. He was someone others could depend on—whether with a helping hand or a listening ear. His presence brought comfort, and his memory will be treasured by many.
Charlie Cummings will be remembered not only for the life he lived, but for his kind soul. His spirit remains alive in the hearts of those who knew him.
He is survived by his children, as well as other loved ones who mourn his loss and celebrate the life he lived.
A graveside service will be held at 11 am on Thursday, May 8, 2025, at Westlawn Memorial Park to honor his memory and the many lives he touched. The family will receive guests from 5-7 pm on Wednesday, May 7, 2025, at Minton Chatwell Funeral Directors in Borger.
He is preceded in death by his father, Terrell Cummings; mother, Dorothy Winters; wife, Jo Carol Cummings; son, Darrell Cummings; brothers, Marion, Sam, John T., Rocky, Travis; and sisters, Shirl Logan, Nona Ford, Lula Turner, and Rachel Keramidas.
He is survived by sons, Mark Cummings and wife Jennifer of Denton, Erik Cummings and wife Faith of Flower Mound, Charlie Cummings and wife Nadia of Northlake, Texas; daughters, Lezlie Beley and husband Jeff of Denton, Destiny Williams and husband Charlie of Flower Mound; grandchildren, Cameron, Christian, Zac and wife Brittaini, Cameron, Madison and husband Jared; siblings, Fred Cummings of Florida, Pearl Turner and husband Dennis of Enid, Mississippi, Josie Williams and husband James Ray of Enid, Mississippi, LaDonna Welch of Fritch; numerous nieces and nephews; and a host of extended family.
